if you follow the wall separating the orange orchard – in a momentary and romantic trip down memory lane – you come to a garden with stone tanks, statues and hundred-year-old trees, a very unusual sight in the alentejo
facing the garden, the lounge has a salamander stove and other highly original items such as the 1950s “bilhares conserva” snooker table, the 1960s zundapp motorcycle and black and white photographs by José Vasconcelos
a truly special feature is the porch which boasts a large made-to-measure wood and marble communal table in a setting that serves as a gathering place for the more bohemian, chatting the night away on impromptu topics while sipping the imani country house red wine, the choice of oenologist, Paulo Laureano
for couples in love or anyone looking for total peace and quiet, the little tank-cum-swimming pool is the very embodiment of perfection, set amid the trees and with a charming little hideaway beneath the laurel tree furnished with table and chairs, romance in the purest sense of the word and that you simply can’t find anywhere any more...
and at the far opposite end, there’s a large round swimming pool with sun loungers and a distant view of the flock of sheep and the resident donkeys
