a genuine “gallic” village, where the stone of the exterior contrasts with the welcoming ambience and the designer pieces indoors, a landmark project by architect Victor Mineiro, who has successfully preserved original features of these village houses, enriching them with another dimension, in the space, the finishings – such as the limoges marble bathrooms, the wooden floors and ceilings, and the french windows opening out over the uplands – the lighting, and in little details like the uplands which can be glimpsed from every bathroom
the Luís Serpa gallery assisted with the interiors, every piece has been handpicked and you want to keep them all, from original items from the 1940s and 50s, to the Conceição Silva chests of drawers and many works of art

in the communal areas of the garden is a large stone table set under a fig tree – for anyone wishing to prepare a country lunch – and an appealing porch with rustic beds and tons of cushions and silk veils, in warm tones, creating an oriental ambience that begs a snooze on a hot afternoon
on a higher plane, duly separated by stone walls, is a cabin – undoubtedly one of the most sought-after spots in the town – in lieu of chairs there are outsize cushions and lanterns light up the site in the evening, a hugely sensual chill-out with a superb view over the uplands
